Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what pad to choose?
Finding a pad that you are comfortable wearing may take some trial and error.  If you have a heavy flow, you will probably need a longer pad with wings for maximum protection. If your flow is lighter, you may be more comfortable with a shorter one. With pads we suggest that you start with heavier protection and slowly reduce the level until you determine your needs--this may help avoid accidents. When your period starts its heavier at the beginning and lighter towards the end. 90% of your menstrual flow is lost in the first three days.

Will I have an odour if I use a pad?
If you maintain basic hygiene habits (showering or bathing) and change your pad regularly, that should prevent an odour from developing.  However everyone has a natural body odour.

Can a pad fall out of my underwear?
Most pads have adhesive strips on the bottom specifically designed to attach and stick to your underwear. Besides, the unique flexi-wings of Lunabela ultra pads have flexible edges to stretch and fit the shape of your underwear. They wrap around the sides of your panty providing you with excellent stay-in place and side protection.

Can I wear a pad with a skirt?
Yes, as long as you are wearing underwear so the pad has something to stick to!

How do pads work?
Pads "tape" to your underwear with adhesive strips. To use one, you just remove the protective paper that covers the sticky side and then press the pad on to your underwear.

Can I wear pads when I exercise?
Yes. Most women find a pad, held securely in place by the adhesive strips, wings, and/or well-fitting underwear, provide full protection even during very active sports like playing football or handball. The only sport where you cannot wear a pad is swimming.

How do you dispose of pads?
Some pads come individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper. You can roll or fold the used pad into the plastic covering of the fresh pad and throw it in the bin. You can also wrap the used pad in toilet paper and throw it away. Never try to flush a pad down the toilet because it can block it.

Are some people allergic to pads?
Before HIPS makes a product, the materials are thoroughly tested. But everyone is different, and a small number of people may be sensitive to materials that most people find ok.
